NSU Golfer to Compete in Prestigious 2016 Hero Indian Open
Nova Southeastern University men’s golfer Priyanshu Singh has traveled home this weekend to compete in the illustrious 2016 Hero Indian Open, a professional Asian and European Tour event taking place Thursday, March 17, through Sunday, March 20, in Delhi, India.
Singh (So., Delhi, India), a member of the 2015 NSU National Championship squad and also the winner of the Amateur Golf Championship of India this past January, is one of only five amateurs in the 144-golfer field. The Indian Open is the oldest international event in the country, first held in 1964, and the 52nd edition will be played on the par-72, 6,983-yard Lodhi Course at the Delhi Golf Club. Many former champions as well as current members of the world’s top 100 will participate in the event.
Though Singh is not eligible, the purse prize money at stake this weekend will be above $1.66 million dollars. Only one amateur in the 52-year history has taken the title, in the second iteration in 1965, P.G. “Biloo” Sethi.
Informational sites for the tournament can be found HERE and HERE, and the leaderboard can be viewed during the event HERE.
