NSU Geriatric Training Center Receives $2.1 Million HRSA Grant
NSU College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Florida Coastal Geriatric Resources, Education, and Training Center (GREAT GEC) received a five-year, $2.1 million grant this month from the Health Resources and Services Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to support the services and programs offered by the center.
The center improves the training of health care professionals in geriatrics and eldercare, instructs NSU faculty who teach geriatrics, and provides health care students with clinical geriatrics training in nursing homes, acute-care hospitals, ambulatory care centers, and senior centers and retirement communities. The grant was submitted through the effort and leadership of Cecilia Rokusek, Ed.D., M.S., executive director of education, planning, and research and GREAT GEC executive director.
