NSU Fort Myers Student Education Center is happy to BUG their community!

Fort Myers Assistant Director Kevin Hunter in the BUG run

NSU Fort Myers Student Education Center (SEC) volunteers joined forces for the second year with the Fort Myers Metro-McGregor Kiwanis Club to encourage elementary students of Lee County to bring up their grades to an acceptable level. The Bring Up Grades (BUG) program hosts an annual event to raise funds to provide recognition to students who not only bring up their grades to an acceptable range, but who maintain their grade levels or continue to raise them from one grading period to the next. This year’s event, a 5K run and BUG Crawl Trail Walk held on Jan. 22, benefited the students at Colonial, Littleton and Orangewood elementary schools.

This event was in true community spirit as everyone was able to participate regardless of age. Participants ranged from under 19 years old (overall category) to over seventy-five (Senior Grandmaster category). NSU Fort Myers SEC volunteers were pleased to be a part of this effort to help improve the level of education within their community.
