NSU & Florida Osteopathic Medical Association Host Free Health Fair in Davie

NSU’s Health Professions Division and the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association recently offered free health information and assessments to the public during the NSU FOMA Health Fair for Children & Adults in the Davie Tower Shops/Home Depot Shopping Plaza.

More than 100 participants received health information from doctors, optometrists, physical therapists, dentists, occupational therapists, nurses, and other health-care providers, as well as assessments including cholesterol, blood pressure, HIV, and diabetes tests.

Information about pediatrics, women’s health, family medicine, physical therapy, and public health was also available. Participating NSU colleges included Osteopathic Medicine, Health Care Sciences, Nursing, Dental Medicine, and Optometry.

The Davie Fire Department was also on hand to greet children, giving them a rare opportunity to meet real local heroes. A bounce house for children, music from Kiss Country 99.9, and a blood drive rounded out the festivities. Memorial Healthcare System also brought their mobile units for adult and child health, including child immunizations.
