NSU Community Unites for the Hurricane Sandy Relief Drive
During Nov. 15 and 16, the NSU community worked together to collect items and supplies for the university sponsored Hurricane Sandy Relief Drive. As a result of the drive, 24 boxes were shipped to The Rockaway Point Fire Department. The fire house is located at Breezy Point-the area where the fire destroyed over 100 homes. This is a close-knit community that is mostly occupied by employees of the New York Fire and Police Departments, as well as other city employees.
This was truly a demonstration of the benevolence of the NSU community, which through the combined efforts of students, staff, faculty, and alumni ensured the success of the drive. The main campus, staff worked closely with the NSU Manhattan Alumni Chapter President, Elaine Papas, to ensure items were delivered to the Rockaway Point Fire Department.
