Several NSU College of Pharmacy students and faculty from Puerto Rico Regional Campus who are members of the American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP), recently participated in a Diabetes Awareness Fair sponsored by the Puerto Rican Diabetes Association. The theme was “Encaminada: Encendiendo la Luz por la Diabetes.”

The students provided blood pressure screening and were able to educate approximately 185 patients on how to properly use their glucometer and their medications, and how to detect and respond to a hypoglycemic episode. As an additional highlight, several students appeared in local TV and print media coverage, increasing NSU’s exposure on the island.
