NSU College of Pharmacy Provides Free Flu Shots to Community
NSU’s College of Pharmacy has begun its annual campus-wide campaign to immunize students and employees against influenza (flu). Students from NSU’s American Pharmacy Association and the National Community Pharmacists Association student chapters helped educate patients about immunizations during a kickoff event on September 30 at which more than 100 employees received their flu shots.
NSU President and CEO George L. Hanbury II, Ph.D., has made it a priority to offer 500 influenza vaccines each year to employees that wish to be immunized regardless of their insurance eligibility.
Additionally, Aetna recently authorized NSU pharmacists to provide the flu vaccine under its medical benefits. This will allow the NSU Pharmacy to administer the vaccine to NSU students and community patients.
In total, the NSU Pharmacy expects to provide approximately 1,200 flu immunizations this season.
