The NSU College of Pharmacy presented a special lifetime achievement honor to a pharmacist best known as the “Fight Doctor.” Ferdie Pacheco, M.D., a 1950 graduate of the University of Florida Pharmacy School who went on to become the fight doctor for boxing legend Mohammed Ali for sixteen years, was recognized for his countless healthcare contributions to underprivileged residents of South Florida.

Pacheco, who is also a renowned artist, recently painted the College of Pharmacy’s 25th celebration of history narrative which is on display in the NSU Health Professions Division.

Pharmacy Dean Lisa Deziel, Pharm.D., Ph.D., presented Ferdie and Luisita Pacheco with a crystal award in recognition of their “lifetime achievements making our community and world a better place” during the 25th Annual Contemporary Pharmacy Issues Conference on May 3.
