FNA with Crist

Several College of Nursing students from NSU’s Davie-Fort Lauderdale and Fort Myers campuses attended the Florida Nurses Association (FNA) Professional Development Conference and Membership Assembly in Orlando on Sept. 12 and 13.

In addition to reviewing research posters, the students were able to network with nursing professionals from throughout the state and had the opportunity to attend sessions focused on a variety of topics, including pharmacology updates; leadership; laws and rules for the Florida nurse; professional work environments; social media; grassroots advocacy; improving access to health care; infection control updates; and scopes of practices for nurses. The leadership keynote session by Daniel Pesut, Ph.D., R.N., PMHCNS-BC, focused on “Creating and Responding to the Future: Leading and Influencing Innovation.”

As an additional highlight, former Florida Gov. and gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist spoke to the FNA membership and the nursing students about his views on health care and higher education issues.
