NSU College of Health Care Sciences Awards First Ph.D. in Health Science

Brianna Black-Kent, Ph.D., RN, assistant professor at NSU’s College of Health Care Sciences; Jennifer Snyder, Ph.D., PA-C, NSU’s first Ph.D. in Health Science recipient; and Guy Nehrenz, Ed.D., MA, RRT, executive associate dean at NSU’s College of Health Care Sciences.

Brianna Black-Kent, Ph.D., RN, assistant professor at NSU’s College of Health Care Sciences; Jennifer Snyder, Ph.D., PA-C, NSU’s first Ph.D. in Health Science recipient; and Guy Nehrenz, Ed.D., MA, RRT, executive associate dean at NSU’s College of Health Care Sciences.

Jennifer Snyder, Ph.D., PA-C, recently completed her Doctor of Philosophy in Health Science, becoming the first graduate of the program offered by NSU’s College of Health Care Sciences. The degree was officially conferred at the end of September 2014. An associate physician assistant program director at Butler University in Indiana, Snyder began her Ph.D. studies under the directorship of Brianna Black-Kent, Ph.D., RN, assistant professor at NSU’s College of Health Care Sciences. Her dissertation, “Investigation of Physician Assistants’ Choice of Rural or Underserved Practice and Framing Methods of Recruitment and Retention” was chaired by Guy Nehrenz, Ed.D., MA, RRT, professor and executive associate dean at NSU’s College of Health Care Sciences, with Randy Danielsen, Ph.D., PA-C, professor and dean of the Arizona School of Health Sciences at A.T. Still University, and Donald Pedersen, Ph.D., PA-C, professor at the University of Utah, serving as committee members. The Ph.D. in Health Science degree program was co-developed by Nehrenz, and Sandrine Gaillard-Kenney, Ed.D., assistant dean and associate professor at NSU’s College of Health Care Sciences.
