NSU Baseball Player Named ABCA/Rawlings First Team All-American

Justin Garcia continues his postseason awards streak.

Justin Garcia (Jr., Hialeah, Fla.) has been named an ABCA/Rawlings First Team All-American, as announced Monday, May 25 by the American Baseball Coaches Association.

Established in 1945, the ABCA is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 6,600 members represent all 50 states and 23 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, Junior College, Pacific Association Division, High School and Youth. The 72nd annual ABCA Convention will be held Jan. 7-10, 2016 in Nashville, Tennessee.

So far this postseason, Garcia has been named the Sunshine State Player of the Year, NCBWA South Region Player of the Year, Daktronics South Region Player of the Year, ABCA/Rawlings South Region Player of the Year, NCBWA First Team All-American, as well as a first team selection on each of the SSC, NCBWA South Region, Daktronics South Region and ABCA/Rawlings South Region teams. A junior from Hialeah, Garcia was also named as a finalist for the Josh Willingham Award and the Tino Martinez Award.

Garcia finished the 2015 campaign hitting .385 with 26 home runs and 71 RBI. The left-handed hitting slugger broke the school record for home runs by nine home runs. Garcia finished with the highest slugging percentage (.906) in the Sunshine State Conference since Tino Martinez slugged .957 in 1988 for the Tampa Spartans
