NSU Appoints Three Key University Positions
NSU announces the appointments of three key University positions: Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer, Vice President for Facilities, and University Controller. All 3 appointments are effective August 6, 2012.
After a national search, Alyson Silva has been appointed Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. Alyson holds a Master’s Degree in Accounting from Florida Atlantic University and is a licensed CPA since 1988. She is a seasoned financial professional including have served 13 years in “Big 4” public accounting where she served non-profit and higher education clients, including NSU where she served as Senior Manager for our external audit with Ernst and Young. Silva joined NSU in February 2012 as Executive Director for Finance reporting directly to David Heron. During her time in this role she has demonstrated the insight and ability to assess the current needs and priorities of the Finance Division and create and implement action plans yielding meaningful results.
Also following a national search, Pete Witschen has been appointed Vice President for Facilities. Pete holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University and is a credentialed City Manager. He has served NSU since 2007 as Executive Director for Facilities. During his time in this role Witschen reported directly to John Santulli and provided much of the day-to-day oversight for operations in the areas of facilities, public safety and construction. He has also been integral to the planning for key strategic facilities initiatives such as the Center for Collaborative Research and the Academical Village.
Lastly, Cindy Gross, currently the University’s Associate Controller, has been promoted to Controller, succeeding Roger Lacasse. She has worked at NSU for over 19 years. Throughout this time, Gross has held positions of increasing responsibilities within Finance. She began her career in 1992 as an Accounting Assistant and progressed to the level of Associate Controller, a position she has held for the past 6 years. Gross has extensive knowledge of accounting principles as well as University operations. She holds Master of Accounting and MBA degrees from NSU and is a CPA.
