NSU Alumni Spotlight: Robert Kelley, J.D.

Robert Kelley, J.D.

Robert Kelley, J.D. (’81), is founding partner of Kelley Uustal and one of the nation’s most- experienced and renowned trial attorneys. In 2009, he obtained the largest product liability award in the country. A decade earlier, Kelley gained national attention after obtaining a verdict that represented the largest personal injury/wrongful death judgment ever paid by General Motors. He has tried more than 100 jury trials and has won more than 25 multimillion- dollar jury verdicts in a wide variety of cases involving automobile, trucking, and boating accidents; medical malpractice; construction site accidents; defective products; and brain and spinal cord injuries. He has also lectured and written extensively.
Over the course of his career, Kelley has been continually included in the publications Best Lawyers in America, Florida Super Lawyers, and South Florida’s Best Lawyers. He has been repeatedly selected as a finalist by the editors of the South Florida Daily Business Review as one of the Most Effective Lawyers in South Florida. Kelley has been active on many nonprofit boards. In 2011, he founded the Dive Bar, an underwater bar association for lawyers and others dedicated to preserving coral reefs and the marine environment.
