D. Duane Mohon

D. Duane Mohon, O.D.

D. Duane Mohon, O.D. (’98), is the owner, president, and solo optometrist of Eye Care Alabama, Inc., a two-office private practice providing primary eye health and vision services in northeast Alabama for the past 15 years. He is the eye services provider for two nursing homes. Mohon also provides free vision screening services for six local elementary schools’ first, third, and fifth grade students and free eye health and vision services for a local young-adult drug rehabilitation program and a county-wide indigent care program.

Mohon is the past president of the Alabama Optometric Association (ALOA) and a past recipient of the ALOA Young Optometrist of the Year Award and the William H. Feinbloom Award in Low Vision. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, riding his Harley, kayaking, working on his vineyard, and playing sports.
“NSU College of Optometry prepared me with the tools, education, and most of all, the experience to care for my patients from day one in my clinical career,” said Mohon.
