NSU Alum Selected Future Pharmacist of the Year
NSU recent graduate Gina Marie Pettineo, Class of 2011, has been selected as a “Future Pharmacist of the Year” finalist for the “Next- Generation Pharmacist Awards Program.” Pettineo was chosen for her leadership and service representing NSU’s College of Pharmacy in national, regional, and local meetings, community events, and for maintaining the highest academic standards and participation in the classroom while a pharmacy student with a 92.14 GPA.
Pettineo served on the Student Chapter of the Florida Pharmacy Association Executive Committee and was the 2009-10 President of the American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists NSU Chapter. Pettineo has also been actively involved in Florida’s legislative affairs, most significantly as the primary author of a resolution allowing pharmacy interns to immunize in Florida which eventually became a bill. Pettineo’s advocacy exemplifies the philosophy of promoting leadership, education and training of pharmacy students to enable them to become proactive, motivated, and highly skilled future practitioners.
