Nova Southeastern University Honors Chancellor Ray Ferrero, Jr.: Proceeds Benefit Chancellor’s Newly Established Fellows Endowment

NSU honored Chancellor Ray Ferrero, Jr., J.D., on Nov. 2 during a “Celebrate a Lifetime of Giving” ceremony for his years of leadership at the university and for his service to the community. Proceeds from the event, which took place at The Westin Beach Resort and Spa in Fort Lauderdale, will benefit NSU’s newly established scholarship fund, the Chancellor’s Fellows Endowment.

“I am honored to be recognized for my service to NSU and to the community,” said Chancellor Ferrero. “I am especially proud to establish the Chancellor’s Fellows Endowment to provide scholarships for academically gifted graduate students who are in need of financial assistance.  The Chancellor’s Fellows believe that what they do will make a difference – they will change lives and change the world.”

“Under Chancellor Ferrero’s leadership, student enrollment increased 72 percent,” said NSU President George L. Hanbury II, Ph.D. “In addition, the student population became more diverse, which has become one of our core values.”

Hanbury also noted that Chancellor Ferrero has overseen the transformation of NSU’s main campus adding more than 2 million square feet of facilities during his tenure. “In addition, he has energetically and effectively pursued collaborative efforts between community and education that have undoubtedly improved the lives of thousands of individuals and emphasizes another core value – that of community,” said Hanbury.
