No. 6 Rowing Wins Petite Final to Finish Fifth at Nationals
The No. 6 Nova Southeastern University rowing team won the Varsity-8 Petite Final Sunday to finish fifth at the 2015 NCAA National Championship at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center.
The Sharks topped No. 5 Philadelphia with a time of 7:25.05. NSU won by over seven seconds, with Philadelphia cross the finish line at 7:32.45.
The Sharks led from start to finish, slowly building a lead throughout. NSU led by four seats after the first 500m and a full boat length by the 1,000m mark. From there, NSU created open water distance and never looked back.
The Sharks were represented by: coxswain Victoria Porretti (Fr., Norristown, Pa.), Adrianna Rosario (Jr., Pembroke Pines, Fla.), Cassily Lobaugh (So., Milton, Ga.), Bethany Warlich (Leeds Point, N.J.), Daesha Roberts (So., Yulee, Fla.), Amanda Craig (Sr., Berlin, N.J.), Remi McClellan (Sr., Mullica, N.J.), Kamaye Nichols (Fr., Miami, Fla.) and Kelsey Obringer (Sr., Port Republic, N.J.).
After the petite final, No. 1 Barry claimed the NCAA National Championship, with No. 3 Mercyhurst taking second place overall.
