No. 1 Men’s Golf Moves on to National Championships as Super Regional Winner

The No. 1 Nova Southeastern University men’s golf team utilized an outstanding final-round performance, a 13-under 275 on Wednesday, May 6 to turn an eight-stroke deficit into a 10-shot win at the NCAA South/Southeast Super Regional at the Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club.

The Sharks not only had the lowest team score Wednesday by 13 strokes, they also took up the top three spots on the individual leaderboard, led by tournament medalist Richard Mansell (So., Staffordshire, England), whose 5-under 67 gave him a 209 total and two-stroke win over two of his teammates. Santiago Gomez (Jr., Armenia, Colombia) and Oscar Lengdèn (Sr., Helsingboro, Sweden) each ended with 211, with Lengdèn at 3-under Wednesday (68-74-69) and Gomez two shots under par (71-70-70).

Priyanshu Singh (Fr., Delhi, India) saved his best for last, going 3-under as well during his final 18, wrapping up at 217 (72-76-69) and in a tie for 14th. The final Shark, Ethan Marcus (Fr., Boca Raton, Fla.) ended at 227.

Lynn, the leader after two rounds, finished as runner-up at 855 and will advance along with NSU and four more squads to the DII National Championships: Barry (875), USC-Aiken (876), Saint Leo (879) and Florida Southern (881).

The 2015 DII Championships start on May 18 and could last for as many as five days in Conover, North Carolina, at Rock Barn Golf and Spa. Stay tuned for more coverage here on NSUSharks.com.
