NSU’s Medical School Helps Launch Correctional Medicine Specialty
Nova Southeastern University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU-COM) received approval for a new medical specialty—correctional medicine—that was developed at the college in collaboration with the Florida Department of Corrections.
NSU to Launch Free Public Lecture Series on Coral Reefs
In an effort to raise public awareness of one of South Florida’s most valuable natural resource — coral reefs — Nova Southeastern University’s Oceanographic Center will launch a free public lecture series about the science of the species. The lecture series, which starts on January 30, will be held at NSU’s new $50 million Center of Excellence for Coral Reef Ecosystems Research in Hollywood.

NSU Law Center Unveils Modern Technology in Student Courtrooms
The Shepard Broad Law Center at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) held a ribbon-cutting ceremony in December 2012, showcasing technological upgrades to the Law Center’s courtrooms, jury room and judge’s chambers. The technology upgrades will allow students to practice in an environment similar to courtrooms being utilized today.

The conference will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Knight Auditorium located inside the Carl DeSantis Building on NSU’s main Davie campus. It will feature physicians and researchers speaking about the clinical practice and research that will be conducted at the new $5 million Institute for Neuro Immune Medicine.

Nova Southeastern University (NSU) will award world-renowned artist, scientist and researcher Guy Harvey, Ph.D., with one of NSU’s newest awards, the President’s Award for Excellence in Community Service. President George L. Hanbury II, Ph.D., will bestow the award upon Harvey and four others at the university’s annual Celebration of Excellence event on Jan. 24, 2013.
NSU Receives NASA Space Shuttle On-board Computer for Research
Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) Graduate School of Computer and Information Sciences has received one of the NASA Space Shuttle’s on-board general purpose computers (AP-101S GPC). Faculty and students will study the design and construction of survival systems using the shuttle’s computer.
