NSU’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) SGA is hosting a new event: “Shhh! SHSS is Talking!” This new talk series, inspired by Ted Talk, will feature faculty and students from SHSS conducting a series of presentations on “Sex and Culture.” The event is free and open to the public.

The first Shhh! SHSS is Talking event is scheduled for 6-7:15 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9 in the PVA Theater of the Don Taft University Center. Six SHSS students will be joined by featured speakers Shelley Green Ph.D. and Douglas Flemons Ph.D., professors in the Department of Family Therapy (DFT) at SHSS. A reception will follow the event. This event is free and open to the public. To RSVP, please email Molly Kresl at mk968@nova.edu.

Green and Flemons are the co-editors of a book on brief sex therapy, Quickies. In addition to his faculty work, Flemons is the co-director of the NSU Office of Suicide and Violence Prevention. Several years ago Green initiated a course, Equine Assisted Family Therapy, which was the first of its kind to be housed in a nationally accredited family therapy program.
