NSU Introduces New Online Degree Audit System Degree Works

The university is in the process of transitioning to a new degree audit system called Degree Works. Degree Works offers many benefits and additional tools to both students and advisors and is now available to select NSU students. Degree Works helps students and advisors see what courses and requirements the student needs for graduation.  Degree Works is replacing the Curriculum Advising and Program Planning system (CAPP) and is accessible in SharkLink or from the registrar’s website.

Some of Degree Works features include:

  • Student Education Plans lay out course requirements for a student’s entire course of study until degree/certificate completion.
  • What-if and look-ahead analyses answer questions such as “What if the student changes majors?” and “How would the student progress toward graduation if the student completed four courses instead of three next semester?”
  • User-friendly GPA calculators answer questions such as “What grade does the student need to get into a course to maintain a certain GPA?”
  • Improved Transfer Course Display shows exactly how coursework completed at other institutions applies toward the student’s course of study at NSU.

Degree Works degree evaluations, however, are not official and are not meant to replace the academic advisor/program office.

Transition

Enrollment and Student Services is working diligently to transition all student populations as swiftly as possible. During the transitional period, students will visit the registrar’s website to determine whether to access CAPP or Degree Works for their online degree audit.  Once a program is available in Degree Works, it will be considered the system of record and CAPP will no longer be updated and should not be used.

Faculty and staff may access the ESS intranet site ESS CommunityNet for additional resources as well as the public CAPP/Degree Works website at https://www.nova.edu/registrar/capp-degreeworks.html.
