Dr. Pallavi Patel College of Health Care Sciences
In early February 2018, the Nova Southeastern University (NSU) Athletic Training Program in Fort Lauderdale, Florida spent time with National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) president, Scott Sailor, Ed.D, ATC. Sailor had dinner with NSU faculty and preceptors as well as NATA Hall of Famers Larry Starr, M.Ed., ATC, LAT, head trainer and NSU adjunct professor, and Frank Walters, Ph.D. LAT ATC, director, Broward Health of Sports Medicine and Wellness.
Sailor spent the next day meeting with all levels of the Athletic Training (AT) Program, discussing the many initiatives put forth by NATA, and responding to questions raised by athletic training students. NSU AT student organization president, Leon Pratt said, “It was great to have the NATA President Scott Sailor come visit our program to see what we are all so proud of”.
During our conversation, Sailor addressed our concerns regarding the profession, said, “He left us with confidence in where athletic training as a whole is heading.” According to Pradeep Vanguri, Ph.D., ATC, athletic training program director, “Dr. Sailor is an amazing advocate for our profession and the time he spent with all of our students left an impression on what they can do to help.”
