Momentum Dance Company to Perform Mark Twain Story at Alvin Sherman Library – May 16

The Momentum Dance Company will perform Mark Twain’s The Jumping Frog of Calaveras County in the Second Floor Gallery of NSU’s Alvin Sherman Library, Research, and Information Technology Center on Saturday, May 16 from 2-3 p.m. This program is free and open to the public, and is suited to all ages.

The story is told through Mark Twain’s prose, bluegrass and country music, colorful costumes and high-jumping dance movement. The performance will be followed by a movement workshop for the children in the audience, who will also be able to make a dancing frog puppet to take home.

The Jumping Frog of Calaveras County is a part of the Alvin Sherman Library’s Ferro Fine Arts Series, made possible by the Charles P. Ferro Foundation. The series has featured several free innovative programs during the 2008-2009 season including lyric opera, stunning live flamenco, vibrant ballet and pop-up art. The series was designed specifically to give children and families a fun, interactive introduction to the fine and performing arts.
