Men’s Golf Finishes Sixth at NCAA Division II Championships
The NSU men’s golf team finished in sixth place at the 2010 NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championships held at the par-72, 7,173-yard, Jack Nicklaus-designed, Sagamore Golf Club in Noblesville, Ind., May 18-21.
NSU (1,226, +74) finished 20 shots behind champion Florida Southern. Junior Bobby Bode led the Sharks by coming in a tie for sixth place. Bode (76-73-70-79-298, +10) established a new men’s golf program record for highest finish in a national championship, surpassing Greg O’Mahony’s 20th place finish in 2008.
Junior Ben Vertz concluded play in 22nd place after rounds of 72, 78, 77 and 78 (305, +17). Senior Byron White moved up 24 places in the final round after carding a 75. He finished the Championships in a tie for 30th place (75-78-82-75-310, +22). Senior Peter Kolosvary came in a tie for 45th place (76-76-80-81-313, +25) while junior Jack Bartlett came in 79th place (79-82-83-100-344, +56).
