Men’s Golf Announces 2016-17 Schedule
The Nova Southeastern University men’s golf team has released its 2016-17 schedule. First-year head coach, Chris Carlin will make his NSU debut in Kissimmee, Fla. at the Div. II National Preview on Oct. 3.
The Sharks are looking to build off of their success from the 2015-16 season garnering eight Top-5 finishes and a berth at the regional tournament.
The Sharks return four from the 2015. Their top returner is Richard Mansell (Sr., Staffordshire, England) who is coming off a strong season receiving All-American status and placing fifth overall at the national tournament participating as an individual.
The Sharks kickoff the season at the Div. II preview for the second consecutive year. In 2015, the Sharks took second out of twenty-two teams with Mansell and Juan Jose Guerra (So., Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) earning Top-10 finishes. The Sharks will have three more tournaments in the fall starting with their home event, The Golf Rank Invitational, then traveling to Seaside, Calif. for the Otter Invitational and wrapping up with the Golfweek Div. II Invitational in Austin, Texas.
“The team and I are very excited for the season to get underway,” said head coach Chris Carlin. “We have a great schedule for the year and I am very pleased with what I have seen from the guys both on and off the course. Everyone in the program is in full support of one another and this will help us tremendously throughout the year. I feel very fortunate to be a part of such a great university, around great staff, and to coach a great group of young men. The foundation for our team’s success has been set and we are working hard to improve every single day.”
