Men’s Basketball Player Named to All-SSC First Team
Nova Southeastern University men’s basketball player Chris Page (Jr., Plainfield, Ind.) has been named to the 2015 All-Sunshine State Conference First Team, as announced by the conference office Wednesday, March 4.
“I’m really proud of Chris and pleased that the coaches in our league recognized his gifts,” stated head coach Gary Tuell. “This has been a very difficult season for him with his father, Bob, fighting cancer back in Indiana, and with the loss of his grandmother in February. I know Chris plays every game with the hope that what he’s doing here as a student-athlete is bringing joy to his dad back home, and helping him in his fight against cancer. Our entire team is very proud of Chris and what he’s accomplished with the help of his teammates.”
Page has emerged as one of the league’s premier scorers, ranking second in the conference at 19.3 points per game. The junior is posting major scoring numbers while shooting 48.6 percent from the floor, 41.1 percent from 3-point range and 78.8 percent from the foul line. During the regular season, Page led the team with 42 steals and ranked second with 96 assists, averaging 2.7 per game.
Page, who earned second team honors in 2013-14, becomes the first All-SSC First-Team honoree from NSU since Tim Coenraad was named to the team in 2008-09. Alongside Coenraad, Page is the second player in program history to receive multiple All-SSC honors.
