Men’s and Women’s Swimming Split with Saint Leo on the Road

After competing in their first home meet on Friday, Oct. 25, the NSU men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams immediately hit the road to face the Saint Leo Lions on Saturday in their second-straight Sunshine State Conference match-up.  The Sharks’ women defeated Saint Leo, 170-92, while the men suffered a loss to the Lions, 136.5-124.5.

The Sharks opened the meet with a win in the women’s 200-yard medley relay. Emma Wahlstrom (Fr., Stockholm, Sweden), Ashley Bransford (Sr., Santa Cruz, Aruba),Emma Lawrenz (Jr., Minnetonka, Minn.) and Alexandra Zatylny (Sr. Quebec, Canada) combined for a winning time of 1:51.98. On the men’s side, Saint Leo’s quartet of Pawel Trenda, Jose De Jesus, Matheus Assis, and Milton Requejo, won by setting a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 1:30.42, topping the NSU men’s relay team by just over two seconds.
