Meet the “King of Conscious Hip Hop,” Common, at NSU’s Life 101, Apr. 7

Grammy-award winning artist and actor Common, known as the “King of Conscious Hip Hop,” is coming to NSU as a part of the “Life 101 … Personally Speaking” series. Get to know the accomplished virtuoso on a personal level on Thursday, April 7 from 6 to 7 p.m. in NSU’s Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center.

The overall goal of “Life 101” is to bring leaders from business, entertainment, politics and athletics to our campus to educate and inspire the NSU community by sharing life accomplishments and “lessons” learned along the way.

The interactive, informal, 60-minute interview program is brought to the NSU community by the Division of Student Affairs. Each Life 101 is hosted by Mark Cavanaugh, Ph.D., professor at NSU’s Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, and also allows the audience a chance to ask questions at the end of the program.

Tickets are limited for “Life 101 … Personally Speaking” featuring Common, but are FREE to all NSU students, faculty and staff members with a valid NSU ID. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at the Athletics and Student Affairs Reception Desk (located between the Rosenthal and Mailman-Hollywood buildings).

Advanced calling to reserve/hold tickets is prohibited. Due to limited seating, a maximum of two tickets per person will be issued. A valid NSU employee/student ID must be shown at the time of issuance.
