Medical Students Snare Dr. Bradley I. Silverman Scholarships

From left to right: Stanley Silverman, second-year medical student Joshua Klein, and Marilyn Silverman. Stanley and Marilyn Silverman are the parents of Dr. Bradley Silverman, the scholarship’s namesake.

On Apr. 4, second-year medical student Joshua Klein and third-year medical student Jaclyn Railsback were named the recipients of the NSU College of Osteopathic Medicine’s (COM) 6th Annual Dr. I. Bradley Silverman Memorial Scholarship. It was established in 2006 to honor outstanding COM students who participate in cancer-related community service and showcase compassion, commitment, and other laudable traits exemplified by Silverman. In addition to earning well-deserved recognition, Klein and Railsback each received $1,500 cash awards.

Silverman, who passed away in 1999, was a member of COM’s charter graduating class in 1985. During his career, he became passionately involved in the breast cancer field and went on to become chief of surgery and then chief of staff elect at Aventura Hospital and Medical Center.
