Pictured (from left) are Ronald Burns, D.O., FOMA Convention program co-chairman; Jeffrey Grove, D.O., FOMA president and a 1990 NSU College of Osteopathic Medicine alumnus; Brian Ware (LECOM student recipient); third-year NSU College of Osteopathic Medicine students Kelli McCarrell and Zachary Virgin; and Martin Levine, D.O., president of the American Osteopathic Association.
Two third-year Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine students who completed a core rotation at Florida Hospital East Orlando―Kelli McCarrell and Zachary Virgin―each received a $5,000 scholarship from the Osteopathic Foundation of East Orlando for demonstrating excellence in leadership and academics. The scholarship is awarded to third-year core medical students from the medical school based on criteria such as exemplary grade-point average, personal statement, letters of recommendation, and curriculum vitae.
The award was presented on Feb. 24 during the 109th Annual Florida Osteopathic Medical Association (FOMA) Convention held in Weston.
