Medical School Coordinates Second Annual Research Poster Competition
Simultaneous to NSU College of Osteopathic Medicine’s (NSU-COM) Residency Fair, which was held on Oct. 8, NSU-COM’s Consortium for Excellence in Medical Education (CEME) held its Second Annual Intern/Resident Scientific Research Poster Competition. Numerous individuals from the various CEME affiliates located throughout Florida and the southeastern United States submitted posters, which were judged on their originality, content, and design in the case presentation category. Cash prizes of $500, $250, and $100 were awarded to the first, second, and third-place finishers. Following are the poster competition winners:
First Place
“Dissecting Thoracic Aneurysm: A Case Report”
Anna Pevzner-Kalika, D.O., medical resident; and Victor Jaffe, D.O., former medical resident and current COM instructor.

Second Place
“Autonomic and Neurologic Manifestations of Hereditary Hemochromatosis”
Juliana Rodrigues, D.O., medical resident, and Steven Kanner, D.O., COM clinical associate professor of internal medicine.
Internal Medicine Residency, Columbia Hospital
Third Place
“Pyoderma Gangrenosum Following Breast Reconstructive Surgery”
