M.B.A. Student Interns with U.S. Census Bureau
Kristin Mestre, an M.B.A. student at the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship, accepted a marketing internship position in January 2010 at the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Census Bureau in Dallas, Texas.
Mestre’s position as Road Tour co-producer has enabled her to travel on the 2010 Census Road Tour, covering more than 2,000 miles across Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Her primary goal is to help educate the “hard-to-reach” populations. Mestre’s responsibilities include planning the logistics of more than 80 regional and national events, working with the media, and strategizing for marketing promotions.
Among Mestre’s accomplishments are the creation of a Jeopardy-like game, which she uses in elementary school classes, and a Q&A informative video targeted toward the Hispanic population.
Kristin obtained the internship through the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, which places students with governmental and private corporations throughout the U.S.
