Salon Series: Collecting Studio Glass
Complimentary for members at the Director’s Circle ($2,500) level and above
Join Executive Director Irvin Lippman on a visit to the stunning high-rise homes of two private glass collectors.  Our shuttle departs the Museum Plaza at 2 p.m. for Williams Island, where we will be given an introduction to studio glass at the first collection.  Then, our shuttle proceeds to the Diplomat Residences on Hollywood Beach for a tour of a spectacular glass collection where dessert and wine will be served.  This program is organized in conjunction with the Florida Glass Art Alliance.

Marcia Hall, PhD, Professor and Director of Graduate Studies at the Tyler School of Art at Temple University in Philadelphia speaks about the powerful Medici family of Florence, the Uffizi Gallery that they founded and the levels of patronage during the Renaissance.

Glass Art Trip:  Hot Shop and Museum Tour

For members at the Patron ($500) level and above
A $10 per person fee covers transportation and studio/museum fees.
We’ll visit the studio of Norwegian glass artist Terje Lundaas for a tour and demonstration of various glass processes.  Terje’s work has been exhibited in Scandinavia and the United States and he has been featured by David Bromstad on the HGTV design show Color Splash.  We’ll then continue our conversation with the artist over lunch at Season’s 52 on Miracle Mile (lunch cost is on your own).  Afterward, we’ll stop by the University of Miami’s Lowe Art Museum, where collector Myrna Palley will provide us with a personal tour of the Myrna and Sheldon Palley Pavilion for Contemporary Glass and
Studio Arts.
