Mailman Segal Center for Human Development Staff Member Named to National Organizations
Lorraine Breffni, director of Early Childhood at NSU’s Mailman Segal Center for Human Development, has been named to the National Accreditation Commission (NAC) Policy Council. NAC is a national early childhood program accreditation with more than 900 accredited programs nationwide, 200 of which are located across Florida. The National Accreditation Commission provides a comprehensive, ongoing quality improvement system that recognizes the inherent diversity among programs through the self-study and award process.
In addition, Breffni has been invited to join the National Coalition of Campus Children’s Centers (NCCCC) Communication and Outreach Committee. The NCCCC is a nonprofit educational membership organization that supports excellence in programs for young children in communities of higher learning by providing opportunities for leadership, professional development, research, networking, and advocacy. The organization is dedicated to promoting and conducting research on campuses that will influence the future directions of early childhood care and education and family-work support while assessing the long-range effect of care and education on children and families. NCCCC also promotes the establishment, maintenance and, where appropriate, the expansion of high quality child care and early education programs to enable parents to further their education and be gainfully employed.
