Mailman Segal Center Directors Named as 2010 Book of the Year Award Finalists
ForeWord Reviews recently announced their 2010 Book of the Year Awards list of finalists. Representing more than 350 publishers, the finalists were selected from 1400 entries in 56 categories. Setting up Classroom Spaces That Support Students With Autism Spectrum Disorders by Susan Kabot, Ed. D., CCC-SLP and Christine Reeve, Ph.D., BCBA-D, is a finalist for the 2010 Book of the Year Awards in the education category.
Published by AAPC Publishing, the book is considered an easy and efficient read by educators. The authors showcased many actual classrooms through photos, depicting how to set up your classroom, so that it supports children on the autism spectrum.
Kabot is the Director of Clinical Programs at MSC; and specializes in researching and developing programs for children with autism spectrum disorders. Kabot supervises two of the MSC’s programs for children with autism, Starting Right and the Unicorn Children’s Clinic and she also chairs the University’s Interdisciplinary Council for the Study of Autism.
Reeve is an adjunct professor, is the Director of Academic Programs and developed, in collaboration with Kabot, the autism master’s and doctoral course series in the School of Education and the applied behavior analysis concentration in the MS Counseling program offered at the Center for Psychological Studies.
ForeWord Reviews‘ Book of the Year Awards program was established to help publishers shine an additional spotlight on their best titles and bring increased attention to librarians and booksellers of the literary and graphic achievements of independent publishers and their authors. Award winners are chosen from real librarians and booksellers, who are on the front lines everyday working with patrons and customers.
