Lopez and Hernandez Earn Softball All-South Region First-Team Honors
NSU seniors Lauren Lopez and Jessica Hernandez were named to the Daktronics, Inc. NCAA Division II Softball All-South Region First-Team.
Shortstop Lopez adds this honor to a 2010 awards list that includes SSC Player of the Year, CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District First Team, and All-Sunshine State Conference First-Team honors. She batted .415 and led the SSC with 50 RBI and 61 runs scored. Also leading the conference with a .764 slugging percentage, Lopez ranked first with seven triples, tied for first with 12 home runs, and tied for second with 18 doubles.
Hernandez earned an outfield spot on the Daktronics, Inc. first team by posting the most productive season of her career at NSU. She led the conference with 55 RBI, which ties for third most all-time at NSU. Hernandez ranked second on her team with a .392 batting average, a .546 slugging percentage, and a .447 on base percentage. Her strong play also earned her a spot on the All-SSC First Team.
By receiving first-team honors, Lopez and Hernandez are both eligible for the Daktronics, Inc. All-America Team.
