Longtime Medical School Vice Dean Lawrence Jacobson Passes Away

Lawrence Jacobson, D.O.

Lawrence Jacobson, D.O., who served as vice dean of the Nova Southeastern University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine and had been affiliated with the college since 1995, passed away on Nov. 10 following surgery to repair a brain bleed precipitated by a serious head injury.

Jacobson’s dedication to the profession as a skilled neurologist and beloved dean spanned many decades. Prior to his NSU career, Jacobson was one of the founding faculty members at Michigan State University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine. His prolific career also encompassed running a successful neurology practice, serving as medical director of the brain trauma unit at Southfield Rehabilitation Center in Michigan, and acting as dean for academic affairs at Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Iowa.
