Long Island University Professor Gives Talk on Homeland Security Education
Stan Supinski, Ph.D, associate professor at the Long Island University Homeland Security Management Institute, spoke to Nova Southeastern University’s Institute for Disaster and Emergency Preparedness (IDEP) about the current state of homeland security education on Sept. 19. IDEP is preparing to launch a new M.S. in Disaster and Emergency Preparedness degree.
Supinski is an independent homeland security and defense education consultant, conducting program development and management for a variety of homeland defense and security organizations. He has taught and directed homeland security courses for a variety of institutions, including the Naval Postgraduate School, University of Denver, and University of Massachusetts. He is formerly the deputy for training and education for the North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command, where he developed the organizations’ academic training and education programs. He founded and formerly directed the Homeland Security/Defense Education Consortium (HSDEC), a network of over 250 federal, military and civilian educational institutions.
