Lecture with Archeologist Luis Jaime Castillo
Saturday, April 6, 2:00 – 3:00 pm
Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale, Horvitz Auditorium
Luis Jaime Castillo, Ph.D., is one of the foremost experts on Moche culture. An archaeologist at Peru’s Catholic University in Lima, he has conducted excavations for the last 20 years, particularly at San Jose de Moro, a remarkable Moche cemetery yielding incredible ancient burial sites. Castillo’s discovery of the Tombs of the Priestesses in 1991, with their extraordinary richness and complexity, was one of the most significant advances in Peruvian archaeology. He is co-editor of the recently published New Perspectives on Moche Political Organization.
This event is complimentary to all Museum members and $15 for nonmembers. Reservations are required. RSVP to Kelly Medlin at kmedlin@moafl.org or call (954) 262-0227.
