Congratulations to the members of the Class of 2011 who participated in the Pro Bono Honor Program and volunteered nearly 23,000 hours of pro bono legal work while in law school. This is an impressive volunteer effort, exceeding all previous graduating classes, and its impact on the community is beyond measure.

One-hundred and five members of the Class of 2011 qualified for recognition by performing at least 50 hours of pro bono service. This is the highest number of participants for a graduating class on record! The total number of hours is the equivalent of 454 work weeks (at 50 hours per week) or over nine years of service (at 50 work weeks per year). In addition, 19 graduates received summer and/or academic year fellowships for a total of 2,900 volunteer hours.

The top three placements in terms of number of students volunteering and the total number of hours were (1) Legal Aid Service of Broward County/Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida; (2) Broward County Public Defender’s Office; and (3) Broward County State Attorney’s Office.
