Law Day Attracts 200 Students Interested in Public Interest Law
Since 1993 organizations and individuals have come together to share information with our students about the public interest community and how they might get involved. With over 30 public interest and government organizations from South Florida participating this year, over 200 students came out to get more information on Feb. 17.
The goal of Public Interest Law Day is to educate students about how they might contribute, through summer internships and other volunteer opportunities, to the legal needs of those individuals who are traditionally underserved and/or underrepresented in the community. Participating organizations looking for interns on campus included: Broward County Sheriff’s Office Pre-Release Program, Department of Children and Families, Department of Homeland Security (ICE), Everglades Law Center, Inter-American Center for Human Rights, IRS, U.S. Department of State, and others.
