Law College Admission Ceremony Draws Large Crowd
September 21 was a memorable day for 152 recent NSU Shepard Broad College of Law grads who learned that morning that they had passed the Florida Bar. That night, the college welcomed them and their spouses, parents, children and friends to campus to witness a mass admission ceremony in the Don Taft University Center.
At the event, Jon Garon, dean of the College of Law, spoke about this being the happiest day of the school year for him and his fellow professors. He congratulated the new lawyers and their families for their hard work and support, often making sacrifices to reach their goal. Dean Garon encouraged them to be the “person who reflects change in their community.”
The Honorable Melanie G. May (JD 1981) of the 4th District Court of Appeal and the following judges from the 17th Judicial Circuit in Broward County administered the oath: The Honorable Robert F. Diaz (JD 1984), The Honorable Mindy Solomon (JD 1981), The Honorable Kal Le Var Evans (JD 2003), The Honorable Ginger Lerner-Wren (JD 1983), and The Honorable Jane Fishman. In her remarks, Judge May inspired the new lawyers to always do the right thing and practice ethically and professionally.
