Law Center Associate Director Elected President of Gwen S. Cherry Black Women Lawyers Association
Cynthia Duval, J.D., associate director of Career and Professional Development at Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad Law Center, will be installed as president of the Gwen S. Cherry Black Women Lawyers Association on July 10, 2014. Formed in 1985, the association’s mission is to address the concerns of women lawyers as they relate to the social, economic, political and moral needs of the community.
Prior to joining NSU, Duval served two terms as a federal judicial law clerk for the United States District Court Middle District and Southern District of Florida. She also worked in local government as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Hialeah and as Assistant Regional Counsel for the Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel. Duval has practiced in the areas of insurance defense, medical malpractice defense, nursing home litigation defense and employment law. She is a graduate of the University of Miami School of Law.
