La Gran Fiesta – MSC’s 12th Annual Evening Under the Stars a Huge Success
NSU’s Mailman Segal Center for Human Development (MSC) raised more than $25,000 at its recent 12th Annual Evening Under the Stars “La Gran Fiesta” themed family event and silent auction fundraiser.
The family focused event attracted about 500 people and showcased one-of-a-kind art work created by the children who attend the center’s programs, and featured special items and services generously donated by community sponsors.
The festive evening featured visits from popular children’s cartoon characters “Dora” and “Diego,” and a performance by the Grammy nominated Latin Jazz Trio, “Negroni’s Trio.” Delicious paella, fabulous music and marvelous maracas made this year’s event a grand fiesta!
Proceeds from La Gran Fiesta and the silent auction will benefit MSC’s Early Learning Programs’ Scholarship Funds. These funds will provide opportunities for families that could not otherwise participate in our programs, including Starting Right, an early intervention program for children 18-36 months identified as at-risk for, or diagnosed with, autism.
Evening Under the Stars is the only major fundraising event benefiting MSC’s scholarship funds. Hundreds of parents, local community leaders and businesses came together in support. This year’s sponsors included Starwood Hotels, Publix, Busch Gardens, Romero Britto, The Florida Marlins, Rooms to Go, and SeaWorld Adventure Park, among others. Event underwriters included Whole Foods Market and Timpano Italian Chophouse.
