Kristin Lyming Named as New NSU Cheerleading Coach
Nova Southeastern University Director of Athletics Michael Mominey announced Wednesday, My 13 that Kristin Lyming will take over as the Sharks’ head cheerleading coach effective immediately.
Lyming comes to NSU after previously serving as the Head Cheerleading Coach and Spirit Coordinator at Missouri Valley College, where she helped the Vikings capture four consecutive conference championships. She also took the team to the National spotlight with a third-place finish in 2011, National Runner-up in 2012 and National Championship in 2013 at the NCA National Collegiate Championship in Daytona Beach, Florida. She has over 10 years of experience in choreography, judging and coaching at all levels including, high school, all-star and college. Additionally, she is First Aid, AACCA and NFHS Certified.
She is originally from Missouri and moved to Miami, Florida in 2014. She graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City with a Master’s degree in International Business and Entrepreneurship. While at UMKC, she served as cheer captain for the Kangaroos. Lyming works for the National Cheerleaders Association as a tenth year veteran and head instructor, where she has received numerous awards including Top Veteran Instructor and Most Helpful Veteran Instructor.
