Jacqueline A. Travisano, M.B.A., CPA, has been appointed Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Nova Southeastern University (Nova).  The announcement was made today by Nova President and Chief Executive Officer George L. Hanbury II, Ph.D.

In her new role, Travisano will be responsible for overall direction, management and effective administrative operations of the university to support Nova’s mission and help to fulfill its vision. As such, Nova’s offices of Finance, Human Resources, Enrollment and Student Services, Internal Audit, Information Technology, Facilities Management, Public Safety, Business Services and University Relations will report to her. Travisano will begin her new position on September 1, 2011.

Currently, Travisano is the Vice President for Business Affairs and Chief Financial Officer for St. John’s University in Queens, New York.  Like Nova, St. John’s is a private, not-for-profit university.  While Nova is comprised of 14 schools colleges and centers, similarly St. John’s colleges and schools include Law, Education, Pharmacy and Allied Health, Business, Professional Studies, and Liberal Arts & Sciences.  Prior to St. John’s, Travisano had previously served as Vice President for Finance & Operations at Carlow University, and Associate Vice President for Finance & Administration at Chatham University, both located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

“Jackie possesses exceptional financial skill and acumen, as well as broad operational experience in higher education,” Hanbury said. “She was our first choice from among the more than 300 applicants we received from across the nation. We are delighted that she has accepted the challenge of helping us reach Nova’s mission, vision and core value goals.”

“I am thrilled to be joining the Nova Southeastern University community and honored to follow in the footsteps of President Hanbury as Chief Operating Officer. I enthusiastically support the mission, vision, and core values of the University and look forward to contributing my talents and efforts towards the University’s continued success,” Travisano commented.

Travisano received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Robert Morris University, and her Master of Business Administration from Chatham University. She is a Certified Public Accountant and is active in the higher education community, currently serving as a member of the Eastern Association of College and University Business Officers New York Regional Area Planning Committee.
