Martinez Caps Magical Season with World Series Title

Former Nova Southeastern baseball All-American J.D. Martinez became the first Sharks player to appear in and win the World Series, aiding the Boston Red Sox to the title on Sunday night, defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers, 5-1, in game five of the 2018 World Series at Dodger Stadium.

Also becoming the first Red Sox player to hit a home run in each round of the postseason since David Ortiz in 2013, Martinez batted .278 in the World Series against the Dodgers, logging five RBI, two runs, a home run and a double.

Overall in the postseason, Martinez was a stalwart hitter for the Red Sox, registering a. team-leading .300 average with six runs, three homers and two doubles – topping MLB postseason performers with 14 RBI.
