It’s On Us: Preventing Sexual Misconduct at NSU
In accordance with federal law, NSU is required to provide primary prevention training regarding sexual violence and harassment. Earlier this month, NSU launched online training for all current students entitled, “Think About It.” Similar to the training employees participated in last semester, this interactive program – designed for students – includes information about NSU’s Sexual Misconduct Policy, prohibited behaviors, how to report concerns, and strategies for effective bystander intervention when issues arise. All current students are asked to complete the hour-long program by February 28, 2018, and we seek your assistance in accomplishing this goal.
As part of NSU’s comprehensive approach to reducing the impact of sexual violence and sexual misconduct on members of our university community, we seek your support in encouraging active participation in the online training from the members of our student body that you regularly come into contact with. Instructors are invited to discuss the importance of this training within the context of coursework and the professional ethics which guide your respective discipline. Administrators, advisors, supervisors, and coaches are invited to encourage student participation in the online training through existing relationships with students. Independent of your formal role at NSU, all university employees are invited to consider how you may be uniquely poised to inspire student engagement with the training.
To access the training, students should be directed to their NSU student account for an email with the subject line “NSU Online Sexual Misconduct Prevention Training,” which contains the directions and a link to access the program. If students experience any issues accessing the training, they may consult this FAQ page or contact titleIX@nova.edu from their NSU email address.
