Pride Bite – NSU WOWS International and Domestic High School Counselors
The College of Undergraduate Studies (CUS) hosted high school counselors from across the United States, the Caribbean, Mexico, and Columbia for an extended visit January 28 through 30, 2015. CUS’ Office of Undergraduate Admissions (UGA) organized tours of main campus facilities (including the Health Professions Division) and the Oceanographic Center, provided faculty and student panels, admissions sessions, and time for the counselors to meet current students of their own choosing. These counselors have a heavy influence in students’ college choices, and UGA is already beginning to see the benefit of the event with applications for admission. NSU will soon no longer be considered the “best kept secret in South Florida.”
A few of the glowing comments from counselors:
“NSU is one ‘WOW moment’ after another. Just when I thought I had seen everything, something bigger came along.”
“Your website does not do this place justice. I am so used to visiting campuses that are less than what is portrayed on its website. NSU is actually better.”
“So many of my students want to go to Vanderbilt, but not all can get in and they are great students. In NSU I now have an alternative. In fact, for some of my students I believe NSU is a better choice due to the way you provide such personalized attention.”
“I was impressed by how everyone has the same message. The students say the same thing as the faculty and the faculty say the same thing as the staff. It would be impossible to have staged that. You all clearly seem to care deeply about NSU.”
“I wish I were 18 again. I know where I would go. I would go to NSU”
More than 100 NSU leadership, faculty, staff, and students helped in making this event a success.
