Instructional Technology and Distance Education (ITDE) Students Take Pacificorp Prize
Holly Marshburn and Megan Murtaugh, doctoral students in NSU’s Abraham S. Fischler School of Education’s Instructional Techonology and Distance Education (ITDE) program, recently won first place in the highly competitive Pacificorp Design and Development competition at the annual convention of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology held in Anaheim, CA.
The PacifCorp Design and Development competition is held annually to promote collaboration and mentoring within the AECT field.
The goals of the competition are to:
- improve the professional practice of design and development in adult learning and performance-improvement settings;
- promote collaboration among students, faculty, and practitioners;
- mentor promising students by leaders outside their home institutions; and,
- recognize innovative design-and-development approaches to adult learning and performance-improvement problems.
Three rounds of competition are required of graduate students from universities that offer doctoral programs in instructional technology. Holly and Megan competed against teams from dozens of U.S. universities. They designed and developed an extensive web presence in response to a scenario created by PacifiCorp.
